NEWS FLASH: Cyber Phishing Attack

It has come to our attention today that customers and non-customers of QBE are receiving emails purportedly from QBE. Some are requesting payment of money.

Phishing is the attempt to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details (and sometimes, indirectly, money), often for malicious reasons, by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.

These emails are not legitimate and were not sent by QBE. WHAT TO DO If you have received an email and you have clicked on a link or opened an attachment we recommend you run your virus protection software and follow instructions to remove any programs that may have downloaded. If you have responded to the email and provided any personal financial information we recommend you contact your financial institution immediately to notify them. So that they can investigate the source of this scam, please forward the email if you can, or copy and paste the content into a new email and send to spam.alert@QBE.com WHAT IS QBE DOING? QBE’s security teams are currently investigating the source of the emails. QBE systems have not been compromised. They have numerous controls in place to validate and authenticate access to data and are constantly monitoring for such events.
